Word	Before Reading: what I think the word means	After Reading: what I know the word means
plantation	estate crops,sugar	an estate on which crops such as coffee, sugar, and tobacco are grown.
tremors	When the earth shakes	an involuntary quivering movement.
equilibrium	State balanced	a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced.
livelihood	Daily life	a means of securing the necessities of life.
toiling	extremely hard	work extremely hard or incessantly.
tsunami	high sea wave	a long, high sea wave caused by an earthquake or other disturbance.
hacking	Hacking Bank codes	the gaining of unauthorized access to data in a system or computer.
machete	heavvy	a broad, heavy knife used as an implement or weapon, originating in Central America and the Caribbean.
debris	depress	scattered pieces of rubbish or remains.
aggressive	Being very violent	ready or likely to attack or confront; characterized by or resulting from aggression.
surreal	real	having the qualities of surrealism; bizarre.
buoyancy	water or other fluid	the ability or tendency of something to float in water or other fluid.
whimpered	Shiffers	make a series of low, feeble sounds expressive of fear, pain, or unhappiness.
voiceless	Can't speak	not able to speak or express opinions.
grasped	hold firmly	seize and hold firmly
squirmed	twist side to side	wriggle or twist the body from side to side, especially as a result of nervousness or discomfort.
muster	Encourage something	assemble (troops), especially for inspection or in preparation for battle.
limb	Climbing your leg	an arm or leg of a person or four-legged animal, or a bird's wing.
